Thrifted Christmas, Part II: A Thrifted Table

When I first decided to do this two part Christmas series, I wanted to highlight thrifted gifting and thrifted décor. The gifting was a cinch because it’s something I already do during the holidays. I thought the décor would be easy as well but, to be honest, I didn’t really decorate for Christmas this year. And, the things that I did use are things that were given to me by my grandma or ornaments we’ve collected on our travels. As I was trying to take photographs and put this together, I realized, I really didn’t decorate…at all!

But that’s where the phrase “taking things as they come” comes into play. I may not have decorated but I did have a few close friends over for a late “Friendsgiving” tied in with Christmas festivities. As I was setting up for dinner and prepping the serving dishes and the table, I realized, everything on my table was thrifted – including the table and chairs! So, I thought I would showcase a thrifted Friendsgiving table and let you see what that looks like for us.

We brought out some of our favorite pieces and set the table with love and care for our dear friends. Dinner was provided by all of us, each making a little and sharing it all and it was eaten by candlelight with a fire roaring in the background (even though it wasn’t cold enough for one outside).

I am guilty of getting comfortable in my own house and in my routine but my goodness was it good for the soul to have those near and dear spend time in our home. It added so much warmth and love that we forgot we were missing.

“Entertaining” doesn’t have to be stressful when you’re feeding those you love. I hope you like the little glimpse into how we set up, what I thought, was a lovely table. And yes, everything you see was thrifted. 🙂
